Job Builder Streamlines Mailing Process

Jeb Hudson is president of Poinsettia Groves, a Vero Beach, Florida-based gift-fruit company that sells oranges and grapefruits from mail-order catalogs. For the past five years, Jeb has periodically sent these catalogs to his current customers with the help of mailing software.

He had been using PostalSoft Desktop Mailer until Satori Software approached him and offered a demo copy of Bulk Mailer 5. When Jeb tried it, he was quickly pleased by its simplicity, convenience and versatility, and soon made the switch.

One of the first things Jeb noticed was how simple it is to create a Bulk Mailer file and import fixed-length text files.

"Starting from scratch, setting up the initial lists [in Bulk Mailer 5] is a whole lot easier than it was in DeskTop Mailer," he says.

Because the Bulk Mailer 5 Import wizard allows you preview the source file, Jeb says it's easy to determine where to set the column tabbing to import fixed-length files correctly.

"All of the data is displayed on screen, so I don't have to count how many characters there are on each line or create 'filler fields' like I had to in Postalsoft," Jeb explains. "It used to take me a day to import a file into DeskTop Mailer. With Bulk Mailer, it only takes me a few minutes."

Jeb currently sends eight different mailings per year and credits the Job Builder for reducing the time involved for preparing each one. Using Job Builder, he combines various tasks — such as running Address Correction, Mail Sort, and Print Mail — to create an automated and streamlined process for completing his mailings quickly and efficiently.

"I really like Job Builder. It simplifies my tasks greatly," he says. "The things I send out can have different weights, heights, and widths, so it makes it easy to choose the one [Job Builder template] I need."
