Printing Flexibility, Easy Imports and Move Update — A Winning Combination

Andrea Jackson started using bulk mailing software about six months ago to simplify her mailing processes. As the marketing director at Sunset Chevrolet, a car dealership in Sarasota, Florida, Andrea sends up to 50,000 pieces of mail about seven times per month. She first tried the Postalsoft DeskTop Mailer program but found printing to be a major hassle.

"I could never get the address to print in the right place," Andrea says. "It didn't allow me to place things (on the postcard) where I wanted them to go. Other times, we couldn't get it to print at all."

That's when Andrea switched to Bulk Mailer 5.

"It's a thousand times easier to use than DeskTop Mailer," she says. "There are a lot more diverse printing options."

Andrea talks about one mailing that required several different text elements to be printed on the post card.

"I was printing customer names in the middle, the salesman's name in one corner and the date in another corner," she describes. "It was easy to place everything where I needed it to go, and it printed out nicely. The General Settings [template properties] box is really useful and makes it easy to change your options."

Andrea also likes Bulk Mailer 5 because of its importing and exporting simplicity. She usually creates Bulk Mailer files by importing Microsoft Access databases into Bulk Mailer 5.

"There were more steps involved with mapping fields in DeskTop Mailer. It's so much easier to map everything in Bulk Mailer 5," she says. "A lot of the columns [with header information] are already mapped for you."

Lastly, Andrea praises the simplicity of updating addresses using the Move Update function in Bulk Mailer 5.

"Before, I had to print forms and fax them for every move job. So if I had three jobs in one day, I had to print and fax forms three times, she explains. "Then I had to zip my files and e-mail them for processing, and they would come back a day later."

With Move Update, Andrea no longer has to print and fax forms, export her files or wait a day for her updated addresses. She simply opens her Bulk Mailer file, activates the Move Update wizard and, using the Internet, transmits her addresses to the Satori Software USPS^® NCOA^Link® database. Because Move Update operates in real-time, her updated addresses are quickly returned.

"It's nice not having to do all of those steps like I had to with the old software,” Andrea says. “This goes a lot faster."
